Are you thinking about a career as a computer scientist or computer engineer? Right now is the perfect time to earn a B.S. in computer science or computer engineering. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), salaries for new graduates in computer science are $51,070 per year and computer engineering graduates are $55,936 per year (NACE Winter Salary Survey, 2007). NACE reports that employers in the Northeast will increase hiring by almost 17 percent. Please see the top ten degress in demand below, according to NACE.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics*, computer scientists and database administrators are expected to be among the fastest growing occupations through 2014. Employment of these computer specialists is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations as organizations continue to adopt and integrate increasingly sophisticated technologies. Job increases will be driven by very rapid growth in computer systems design and related services, which is projected to be one of the fastest growing industries in the U.S. economy.
